Yeah... that picture says it all. But if they didn't make these new systems breakable then they couldn't make you go out and buy another, and another, and another, and another.
I on the other hand am still playing my SNES and Gamecube games. Haven't ever had a problem with either system to date.

All I know is that it's a proformance 50 inch projection Tv from 1984 with three large projection lenses [red green and blue] I picked this up at a goodwill for 60 bucks and it works great with old school gaming.
Also Jobber, I don't think the companies are that evil, Personally it's a matter of higher the technology and abilities of the machine, the more likely something is to go wrong. Bugs do pop up, even nintendo games were glitchy at times.

Yeah... but more so today then before. No I dont think they are that evil either, but they seem to rush too fast before working things out nowadays. Everything is a selling contest with these companies. Let's not worry if these systems breakdown after 5 minutes. Let's just beat PS3, X-BOX 360, and Wii in sales numbers. You catch what I am saying.

I agree with your theory of selling comeptition, But I think it's more so with themselves. With the Wiis sales so unreachable by the other two I find they are comfortable with thier positions yet less comfortable with thier selling potential whihc in honest few companies seem to be. Never have I heard a company say "It's okay, we don't need more money"
I see this as being more so a case of not enough financing in the bugs and glitch department. which is kinda understandable seeing how expensive creation and marketing of a game can be in a sea of hundreds of other games and a health ammount of systems. Both console and handheld. but this is just my opinion

I just dont get how 21 years later they are having issues perfecting a product. It seems like all the old stuff works so much better than the new. Maybe Quality and craftsmanship was better served back then. I can only assume its cheaper to use cheaper parts, so thats what they do.
Just make something reliable, I just have the feeling 20 years from now, finding a working 360 might be nearly impossible.

Yeah...that's somethign I never thought of. What's going to happen when in 20 years, I decide I want to sit down and plug in my 360 to play one of the old games I loved? Red rings?! Crap...no way Microsoft will still be fixing them for free by then. Those things will straight up go extinct, while all of our old NES, Genesis, and SNES systems will still be in working condition...

hmm.. I must have been the only kid to have a problem with a NES then. I remember the first one I Bought, took home, and set up. Pressed the power button and nothing at all happened. So I had to pack all that stuff back up, hell i think i had even unpacked the power pad... gah... try getting that thing back in it's box the right way
course, I was also the kid that always found the one gijoe vehicle box that didnt have all the parts in it from the factory.
But yeah, the second NES I brought home that day worked, and has worked until today. My ps3 I think works, I turned it on to look for some demos yesterday but didn't really find anything interesting. oh well.

Yes Deadman you may have had troubles with a NES, so you went to the store and got a replacement same day I bet... Something you can't do with a 360! It's not just broken mechanics, it's a broken system of dealing with the problem that also makes many so angry.

That's true, I did return it that day. I just haven't had any problems with any system since then either.
