Star Wars – The 30th Anniversary Collection Boba Fett Animated Debut Review and photos by Mandalorian30
Ever since the figure waves were first announced for The 30th Anniversary Collection, there has been one figure that I have been really excited about finally getting. And, I’m sure I am not alone, as fans have been clamoring for a figure such as this for years now. Considering this figure was based off an appearance in a TV special that George Lucas himself likes to pretend doesn’t exist, I’d say we’re pretty lucky to get it!
Animated Debut Boba Fett is based off his first ever Star Wars appearance, which happened to be in an animated short that aired during the terrible Star Wars Holiday Special. The Holiday Special aired only one time, in 1978, and has never been officially released on VHS or DVD. But despite how awful the show was, fans did not forget seeing the famous bounty hunter for the very first time. This particular color scheme has been a favorite amongst customizers for several years, and thus was a perfect choice for a brand new, official figure from Hasbro.
Animated Debut Fett is based off of the same mold as the VOTC Boba Fett, which in my honest opinion is the best Boba figure ever made. The figure is full of articulation, meaning you can pose him in more fearsome and intimidating poses than you can probably think of. We’re talking a ball jointed head, articulated knees and elbows, ball socket shoulders, and even ankle joints! This figure is a posing machine!
Fett comes equipped with a nice cloth cape, plastic Wookie braids over the shoulder, his infamous jet pack, a blaster that fits nicely in his hand or holster, and his famous twin-pronged weapon he was seen wielding in the cartoon short. All of the accessories are nicely made, and all fit perfectly on the figure. No soft plastic hear, and no fear of breakage.
As with the rest of the 30th Anniversary Collection, Fett includes a coin which depicts his animated image on the front, and the Mandalorian Mammoth Skull insignia on the back. The coin fits in slot #24 in your TAC Coin Album.
Oh, and you may have noticed something about my MOC photos of Fett. Aside from finding the regular version of the figure, I was also lucky enough to find the Ultimate Galactic Hunt version of the figure! These figures are Hasbro’s “chase” figures for the line. They are differentiated by the gold accents on the package, and the gold UGH sticker on the bubble. Aside from that, the figure also comes with a nice shiny gold coin, as opposed to the normal silver one. The gold on the package really makes the figure look like something special.
Sure to be a hard to find figure, I would highly recommend picking up Animated Debut Boba Fett if you run across him. He is an excellent figure, and would make a unique addition to your collection. Now if only we can get a Chewbacca in Life Day robes…
