Before DiRT puts up the new Wrestling Radio today, I wanted to give a few of my thoughts on last night's Raw.
Me and the guys I was watching with totally called the main event for Survivor series really early in the night. I'm also assuming that Jeircho will talk his way into the Taker/Big Show match. So, that will make it so that the Champ of each show will be facing off against the big tag team from each show at Survivor Series.
Seems to me like they are pushing Kofi against Orton more than cody, now. That's not something I personally saw coming, but am really interested to see. Although, I wonder how that will transition to Ted Vs. Orton. And what will happen to Cody?
Hornswaggle getting served was effing histarical! Hornswaggle annoys the crap out of me, but the stuff with DX getting mad at him for wearing their stuff has been cracking me up.
That's all I've got for the moment. Bring on the podcast!

WR #39:
- I can see the rationale for Danielson making a short stop in developmental simply to get him used to paring the length of his matches down. A few years ago when Lance Storm wrestled him in ROH, it went for about 30 minutes. Storm was like 'that's the longest match I've had in years' while Danielson was like 'that was actually a relatively short match for me.'
- Marty Jannetty didn't physically look too great on Raw last week, but his wrestling was nothing for him to apologize for. I'd love to see him back on a Goldust-like basis too.
- While I'd love to hear a DiRT bonus track, I don't think we're going to hear one. After MVP's reneged push and the imminent pushing aside of CM Punk to have Batista as top heel on SD, I can't allow myself to get all psyched for a possible Kofi push only to see it abandoned. I just don't think we're going to see Kofi Johnson main-eventing Summer Fest anytime soon...
- Not only does Sheamus have HHH's backing, but it's also been said that Vince, who is obviously of Irish ancestry himself, seems to favor people with Celtic bloodlines. Undertaker (Calloway), Finlay, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, probably others I don't know about or am forgetting.
- I'd say the hosts were as wooden as puppets, but even ventriloquist dummies at least have the hands of somewhat charismatic comedians up their butts.

- Sadly, the only scenario I can see Kofi beating Orton is as a means to an end for the Orton vs. Dibiase feud. Basically, Dibiase beats Kofi, but Orton is unable to, adding tension to their relationship. Who knows?

I don't know if this is a good place to put this or not. But the show isn't downloading from iTunes for the past week or so. Did you guys stop using it? I need my Dirt fix!

The iTunes stuff should be automatic. I'm not sure because I've never done it manually, but I'll look into it. You can always find them on the front page of the site!

- I know it's nit-picking, but I was a little annoyed that they didn't just give Dolph the pin. I mean, they'll have Morrison lose clean to the freaking Miz, but not Ziggler?
- Speaking of the Hulkamania tour, did you notice (assuming you saw the Australian broadcast) how the ads at the bottom of the screen for WWE's travel schedule all emphasized OFFICIAL WWE tour? Guess they have to divorce themselves from Hulk's group as much as possible.
- One thing I thought was kind of funny during the Hardy vs. Escobar match was that when Hardy reversed things and hit the Twist of Fate, the crowd didn't react. But then, he gets the pin and everyone was like, 'Ohhh, that was the Twist of Fate! Yayyyy!' and then they start cheering. It's like if he doesn't call for it, people don't realize when he's hitting his finisher.
- I swear, Batista is just a few tattoos away from simply being an older & buffer Randy Orton. Over their WWE careers, they've both been gradually cutting their hair shorter & shorter until it's just shaved off and then when they come back from injuries, they have more tattoos.
- You know what I think might have been good for a chuckle? If Armstrong had thumbed Punk in the eye and then when Punk starts getting his vision back, he makes out a striped shirt and slugs the wrong ref.
- That "off the top into a Codebreaker" stunt should not be attempted by Kane. Guys his size have enough trouble taking the Codebreaker as it is, but off the top is just disastrous.

It's also in August 2010, but they are advertising now to cut into Hulk's sales.

- I actually skipped Raw this week. I have even less desire to see Ozzy Osbourne than I had to see Al Sharpton.
- From what you say, the Chris Masters thing sounds kind of funny. So, of course this means that it's going to become a regular part of his schtick that they'll work into every single one of his appearances until it's staler than 3 year old Graham crackers and eventually release him for being too 1 dimensional.
- I can't agree more about WWE's commentary. Sadly, it's gotten to where I'll mute the TV during the matches and turn it back up if somebody I care about starts talking.

Dirt just wanted to let you know the iTunes feed is working again...thanks...as we all already knew...you rule the school!
As to Raw this week, I actually enjoyed the show for the first time in a while. The Chris Masters spot was brilliant and inspired! Also, the fact that the heels ended the show on top rather than the faces was something thar RAW really hadn't done in a while and was refreshing. Everything in between was...ok...nothing too cringe worthy save for the Divas match but hey...can we actually expect any different from those dead weights?

I think that's one of the biggest issues with RAW...the show has become so cookie cutter that you can almost write a summary of the show without tuning in to it at all!
1) Opening segment with guest host...heels come out and rants to them...segment goes long and the whole thing is awkward.
2) Curtain jerk match with guys with no hope of elevation.
3) Long awkward comedy segment with Santino and host.
4) Faces triumph again overwhelming odds to end every show.
The end
Combine that with the absolute vanilla quality to the matches themselves week in and week out (but that's a WWE issues across the board) and you have the major reasons why WWE is dull right now.
Say what you want about TNA, but I'll watch it over WWE right now because if nothing else...the matches are generally quality and I know I won't be seeing the EXACT same show every week.

The one thing I would argue about TNA though is that you get about the same amount of mat time in a one hour ECW or Superstars as you get in a two hour Impact. Occasionally you get a 7-10 minute match, but most are 2-5 AND have run-ins.

That is very true.
I guess my main point was that at least some variety in what matches there are. Move sets aren't minimalized as they are in WWE.
Let's face it, guys like Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio are so watered down...no wonder they don't come off as threats.

WR #42:
- I once recommended WM 13, and Deadman2099 requested WM 12, specifically the Piper/Goldust Backlot Brawl.
- I swear, Josh Matthews sounded like a guidance counselor or a therapist w/Rey. It's the way he said, "Rey Mysterio, you've been through so much lately," w/this totally forced sympathetic tone. I lol'd.
- I'm guessing they're feeling out Beth as a possible face since the only other face Divas are Mickie & Maria, and I'm still betting on a Maria heel turn.
- I don't know if it will be the culmination of the feud, but I can easily see Road Dogg being brought back, at least for a match w/Punk. BG James was released from TNA at the same time as Jim Cornette, so I could at least see a Jannetty-ish comeo. I didn't say I liked the idea, mind you, but I can see it...
- The original song that the bonus track is based on ("Still Dre") is also the basis from Kevin Nash's horrid 1st them from TNA. The whole thing sounded like it was on a Fischer Price toy piano or something.
